St. Matthew's is a voluntary controlled Church of England School and has close links with the Diocese of Birmingham and St. Matthew's Church. The Christian Calendar is important in the school.
We also acknowledge and consider other faiths and feel that it is only through knowledge and understanding of their faiths and cultures that we can hope to afford pupils a full place in society where differences are valued and equality assured. St Matthew's is a community of learners planning, pursuing and providing excellence through a model of Christianity.
Children are valued for their individuality and heritage and are encouraged to fulfil their potential to meet the challenges of a changing society. St Matthew's is a successful one-form entry primary school close to the centre of Birmingham.
We celebrate the diversity of our children, with nine out of ten pupils coming from minority ethnic groups and with 16 different languages spoken at home. Courage can change lives. People of courage have changed the world! Our imperative is to continue to improve attainment for all. This means a strengthened focus on equality, wellbeing and skills for learning.
