About

Wargrave Church of England Primary & Nursery School "I am the way, the truth and the life" (John 14:6) It is important at Wargrave to therefore be truthful, in the image of Christ. Friendship: Jesus valued friendship in others; there are 140 references to friends and friendship in the Bible! Respect: the second greatest commandment teaches us about respect.

It is woven into the Old Testament (Leviticus) and the New Testament (gospels): At Wargrave, we have adopted 'I am...' throughout the school as character-building for our pupils. In the Bible, when Jesus explained his character to others within the gospels, he used 7 different ways, all beginning with 'I am...'.

We want children at Wargrave to grow, seeing the characteristics of Christ within themselves. We have also recognised that our children, as they grow, will need to think aspirationally in order to reach their full potential; therefore, as a universal language, we also use 'I am...' to harness their talents ("I am a historian" etc) and pursue their future selves.

Being a Christian involves following the example set by Jesus Christ.
