In September 1928, Miss Littlejohn, established a new school in two very bare rooms in the Friends Meeting House on Half Edge Lane in Eccles. When the Friends eventually needed the space themselves, the school moved to Branwood House in Clarendon Crescent, a house not far from the current school site.
In 1947 after the war the school was taken over by Mr Firth and he ran the school until his retirement in 1969. At this point the school was purchased by Mrs Wicks and run by her and her husband. The success led to the purchase of a second, additional property on Worsley Road known as The Crows' Nest.
In 1984 Adelphi Preparatory School, a Catholic girls' school, on Stafford Road closed and Mr and Mrs Wicks purchased the site from the nuns. Coincidentally, the school was situated on the site of Monton House which was where Mrs Wicks herself was born.
Both Branwood School's existing buildings were sold and the children and staff moved into the current purpose built premises on Stafford Road in Monton.
