School Information at King’s Ely, a Private Day and Boarding School near Cambridge, in Ely. King's Ely is a leading co-educational boarding and day school in Cambridgeshire. King's Ely was established over 1,000 years ago to educate the choristers of Ely Cathedral.

King's Ely achieved the highest grading possible in every category inspected following the Independent Schools Inspectorate in 2025 and was judged to meet, or exceed, all the regulatory standards for independent day and boarding schools.

We aim to provide all children with appropriate enrichment and extension activities, giving them the opportunity to gain new experiences and to develop skills and interests beyond the curriculum. Our academic year consists of three terms, Michaelmas, Lent and Summer term.

Throughout King's Ely Pre-Pre, Prep, Senior and Sixth Form, students make use of the school's private bus services to the surrounding areas. King's Ely Nursery, Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior operate an online school uniform and sportswear service, which provides all items of school uniform and sportswear and name tag application.
