iWritten by WhatSchool from official school data (Get Information about Schools, DfE and Ofsted).Welcome to Thorneyholme R.C. Primary School and thank you for visiting our website. Our school is situated in the small rural village of Dunsop Bridge (just 20 minutes from Clitheroe), nestled within the Forest of Bowland and surrounded by beautiful scenery. We are blessed to be able to use our location to enrich our curriculum with outdoor teaching and learning.
The Forestry Commission has provided our school with a fabulous area of woodland for our Forest School sessions which take place at least once a month. Thorneyholme is a very special place. Each child is encouraged and nurtured to reach their full potential, both academically and personally within a happy, safe and stimulating environment.
At Thorneyholme, we teach the children to have high expectations of their own work and behaviour, as well as a life-long love of learning. We support the children to have their own beliefs and dreams, to be curious of the world around them and to have a desire to contribute to the wider life of the school using their gifts and talents.
We are very much a 'family school' and therefore a close school family. We welcome everyone and we know that if a child feels loved, safe and happy then great learning soon follows. As a Roman Catholic school, we aim to provide a Catholic education for all our pupils. The children are taught that God loves everyone. "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."
