About

The children at St James are our greatest asset but we are also blessed with engaged parents, a loving community and a team of staff who put children at the centre of all that we do. Visitors often comment on the positive and supportive atmosphere in our school. We are an ambitious school located near to the centre of the historic town of Taunton.

We cater for children aged 2-11 years and have 14 classes from the Foundation Stage to Year 6 as well as our large and successful Nursery. Our school community is very diverse with over 25% of our children speaking English as an additional language.

We take great pride in this and fully utilise the children's many different languages, their cultural diversity and heritage as often as possible. Our school is a fully inclusive school and is widely recognised as offering great support for both children and parents. We were recently featured in the Sunday Times for this support, please see the article here.

Governing body (5 current, 1 former)

iAcademy trust: local governing body and trust board.

1 governor is linked to a profile (all confirmed).

Governors marked “Confirmed same person” have exactly the same forename and surname as the only officer of that name at the school’s own academy trust company on the Companies House register, so we treat them as the same person. The governance record itself comes from DfE.
