About

Our vision for Whiston J & I School is one of high standards achieved through the creative nature of the curriculum offered. We have a learning culture of high expectations of everyone, children and adults alike, which goes hand in hand with our school's 3 Rs: These three values are built on R elationships of trust, kindness and understanding.

We value active participation from all our children. This is crucial to ensure they can make meaningful links between previous learning and new knowledge to reduce cognitive load. We promote strategies to encourage all children and adults to have a positive mindset through planning opportunities to create a 'productive struggle' and an understanding of 'The Power of Yet.'

This ensures lessons promote challenge, opportunities to think critically and enable all learners to take risks, as w e don't see children simply as recipients of knowledge or as vessels to be filled!!

We give our children 'roots to grow' and 'wings to fly' through building strong relationships, immersing them in first hand experiences and embedding the '3 Rs' across all areas of school life. Our 3 Rs also dovetail with our Trusts 4 Cs: Child Centred; Collaboration; Curiosity & Challenge.
