GROW Colchester North is hosted by Braiswick Primary School within Colchester. The provision is based in the main school grounds, and we can make use of the school's facilities. Our provision is based within a large cabin that is welcoming, cosy and calm and we also have access to a classroom in the school.
We have an allocated outside area with garden and the cabin leads out onto the playground and field where children have plenty of space to run around, explore and enjoy the large climbing equipment. Our curriculum, The 6 Core Strengths, supports children to develop attachment, affiliation, self regulation, awareness, tolerance and respect.
As well as exploring and developing the 6 core strengths through a variety of explicit and expressive activities, children who attend the provision also engage in more formal learning such as maths, reading, writing, science and creative arts when they are ready to do so.
Each week we also have a cooking session related to our current topic in which the children are encouraged to plan and prepare a chosen dish. Some of our recent topics at GROW have included Under the Sea, Chocolate, The Romans and the Rainforest.
