How to read this
The figures describe places, not the people who live in them, and they are counts of records, not rates: we do not hold population figures for Australia here. We say "higher" or "lower", never "good" or "bad", and where something is missing we say so instead of filling the gap.
- Charities are placed at the centre of their postcode; some have no postcode and are left out of the maps (about a tenth).
- Charity income is held for a small subset only, so charities are ranked by ACNC size band.
- Councils are matched by the nearest council centre, because council boundaries are not held; state electorates and federal divisions are not matched to a postcode.
