How to read this
The figures describe places, not the people who live in them, and they are counts of records, not rates: we do not hold population figures for Canada here. We say "higher" or "lower", never "good" or "bad", and where something is missing we say so instead of filling the gap.
- Charities are placed at the centre of their postal-code prefix (first three characters), a few kilometres wide in cities and far larger in rural areas.
- No open postal-code-to-riding file is held, so federal and provincial representatives are not matched to a postal code; municipal councils are matched by city name for the 100 or so that publish.
- Charity income is not held for Canada here, so charities are ranked by board size.
- About a fifth of schools have no coordinates in the provincial lists.
