Wardle Academy is a converter academy school for young people aged from 11-16 years. The academy replaced Wardle High School in September 2013. The school has grown in size in recent years with an increasingly strong academic record, and an excellent reputation within the local community.
Currently there are approximately 1200 students on roll, and we have been oversubscribed in recent years. The school is located in a semi-rural setting on the north eastern edge of Rochdale. It serves the Pennine communities of Wardle, Littleborough and Smithy Bridge. We are a designated secondary school in Rochdale for young people with a physical disability.
In December 2013 we moved into our new school building with brand new facilities including two large sports halls, a fitness gym, a performance hall, an outdoor theatre and almost £1 million of new IT resources. The Science and Technology facilities are innovative and forward looking. The school has a strong tradition in music.
Music tuition is free with over 250 students playing instruments. Our brass bands are nationally and internationally recognized. Our Youth band are the National and European Brass Band Champions for 2019.
